Statue Cleaning Activity
During the 27th December 2015 "Mann Ki Baat" , Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi suggested that we utilize the occasion of Republic Day to reacquaint ourselves with our national heroes by voluntarily cleaning their statues and the accompanying premises.
Clean a statue in your vicinity & share picture or selfie with #StatueCleaning hashtag. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will Re-tweet some of them in the days to come.
Statue Cleaning Initiative by Narendra Modi
Citizens have actively taken up the Prime Minister's suggestion and converted into a national drive. It is an opportunity to not only reacquaint ourselves with the lives of great Indians across centuries, but also to homage to them by cleaning their statues and spreading awareness about their work.
Recent occasions of large scale participation in #StatueCleaning were:
- 23rd January 2016 : The birth anniversary of revolutionary freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
- 26 January 2016 : We celebrated our 67th Republic Day and remembered the contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of our Indian Constitution.
- 30th January 2016 : The death anniversary of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
